Support The
Paul K. Longmore Center
at The Arc SF
In 2025, the Longmore Institute transitioned from San Francisco State University to become the Paul K. Longmore Center, a program of The Arc San Francisco.
This transition was made in tribute to the life and legacy of Paul K. Longmore, a distinguished historian, disability rights advocate, and scholar whose groundbreaking work reshaped the discourse around disability rights and scholarship.
Through his scholarship, activism, and mentorship, Longmore challenged societal biases, fought for the civil rights of disabled people, and highlighted the systemic barriers faced by the disability community. His contributions to disability studies and advocacy remain instrumental in advancing accessibility, inclusion, and justice.
By carrying forward the Longmore mission under The Arc SF, we bring his unique brand of activism out of the academy and into a community setting, broadening its reach to include adults with developmental disabilities.
